The recent agreements of commercial free trade between Europe and Georgia are not without consequences on the Georgian farmers. That is why this year the members of breeders’ Ertoba young association chose to explore the stakes in the necessary putting in the standards of the Georgian agriculture during the 2nd workshop of annual exchange of May 25th, 2016. To favor the participation of the breeders, the event took place this year still in the citadel of Akhaltiskhe and gathered more than hundred participants.
Quality interventions were presented in particular by persons in charge of the Ministry of Agriculture, the Agency of the Food or still the Agency of Development of the agricultural cooperatives. Numerous actors of the dairy sector (cooperatives, dairies) came to enrich the debate.
The workshop also was the opportunity for the students of the University of Akahltsikhe to present the first results of the market study realized at request of the farmers of Ertoba with the support of the project ” Caucasus Milk “.
The project team ” Caucasus Milk ” also had the pleasure to welcome for the occasion:
- Mr Christian Lapointe, administrator of Fert, who also contributed to the workshop with a presentation on the French PO,
- Mathilde Comet, attaché of cooperation of the French embassy.
They afterward both participated in a visit of ground where they were able to meet and to exchange with breeders in the village of Rustavi. The links with the French embassy were also strengthened this year with the meeting to Tbilisi of Mr Pascal Miller, French Ambassador in Georgia, who showed a deep interest for the project and the skills of the team.
